2- هدف المقرر:
 
 
This course is aiming at providing doctorate student with scientific principles and concepts to provide safe effective care to children from birth to adolescent and their families during some critical circumstances that require specific nursing interventions.
3- المستهدف من تدريس المقرر :
 
At the end of this course the post graduate student will be able to:
أ- المعلومات والمفاهيم:
 
 A.1 Identify the major physiologic events associated with the perception of pain.
A.2. Identify the developmental considerations of the effects and management of pain in the infant, toddler, preschooler, school age-child and adolescent
 A.3. Explain the factors that influence the reactions and responses of children and their families during chronic illness and disability.
A.4. Describe ways that nurses assist children with special needs and their families to obtain optimal functioning.
A.5. Describe ethical considerations related to caring for dying children and their families
A.6. Discuss nursing care of the child and family at the end of life
A.7. Identify factors affecting child rearing practices
A.8. Discuss the developmental tasks affecting child rearing
A.9. Discuss appropriate nursing assessments and interventions related to different pediatric conditions caused by defects in physical development
A.10. Discuss the nature and scope of Therapeutic Nutrition
A.11. Identify circumstances where diet may need modification
ب- المهارات الذهنية:
 
B.1. Analyze the impact that being a child with special needs has on the child and family.
B.2. Plan for transition of the special needs child from the inpatient facility to the home and from pediatric to adult medical care.
B.3. Differentiate treatment options for terminally ill children
B.4. Differentiate types of discipline
B.5. Distinguish between different congenital anomalies that affect the newborn
B.6. Devise an individualized nursing care plan for children with conditions caused by defects in physical development.

 C.1 Use the various pain rating scales and physiologic monitoring for children
C.2 Establish a nursing care plan for children related to management of pain, including pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic techniques and strategies
C.3 Apply nursing process in management of terminally ill or dying child
