2- هدف المقرر:
 
 
The aim of this course is to give master student grounding and an objective knowledge base in the area of child psychology that can provide insight into both the nature of childhood generally as well as the distinctive characteristics of individual children. The focus is on social, emotional, cognitive and language development during the early periods of life from infancy and childhood through adolescence.
3- المستهدف من تدريس المقرر :
By the end of this course the student should be able to:
أ- المعلومات والمفاهيم:
 
A1- Define developmental psychology.
A2-State the importance and function of developmental  theories.
A3-Identify the major concepts and theories of human development
A4- Name the major theories within the field of personality.
A5-Recognize definitions of cognitive, affective, physical, motor developmental and learning areas.
A6-Identify the role of parent in the child's life and determine ways to support, encourage, and educate the parents about children's growth and development.
A7-Explain the important of body image, body dissatisfaction and gender identity in developmental theories that explain eating disorder.
A8-Identify the characteristics of attention defect hyperactivity disorder.
A9-List the most common types of eating disorder in children.
A10-Identify the characteristics of autism.
A11-Identify the most common substances that are abused.
A12-Define substance abuse, use, misuse, dependency and addiction.
A13-Identify the role of parent in the child's life and determine ways to support, encourage, and educate the parents about children growth and development during various developmental stages.
A14-Identify common developmental and behavioral problems in children.
A15-Comprehend the risk factors and effects of substance abuse and dependency during the various stages of life.

B2- Discuss the strength and limitation of each theory.
B3-Critically assess the concepts derived from developmental and behavioral theories in identifying health deviation problems in children.
B4-Illustrate the impact of sociocultural norms on the development of eating disorder.
B5-Formulate nursing diagnosis for individuals with eating disorder.
B6-Examine the differences between the developmental tasks of infancy, early, middle and later adulthood with particular emphasis on the cognitive and psychosocial aspects of development.
B7-Relate the assessment data of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder to the development of nursing diagnosis, intervention and evaluation outcomes.
B8-Differentiate between substance abuse and dependency.
B9-Predict how poor parenting skills may lead to child abuse.
B10-Distinguish the signs and symptoms of anorexia nervosa from those of bulimia nervosa.
