2- هدف المقرر:
 
 
This course is aiming at providing master student with advanced scientific principles and concepts of pediatric nursing to provide safe effective care to children (from birth through adolescence) and their families during illness.
3- المستهدف من تدريس المقرر :
At the end of this course the post graduate student will be able to:
أ- المعلومات والمفاهيم:
 
A.1. Describe the major impact and stressors of illness and hospitalization for children in the various developmental stages.
A.2. Describe the nursing care that minimizes the stressors of children who are ill or hospitalized.
A.3. Identify nursing interventions related to common laboratory and diagnostic tests used in the diagnosis and management of different childhood disorders.
A.4. Identify appropriate nursing assessments and interventions related to medications and treatments for various childhood disorders.
A.5. Identify various health problems of the newborn
A.6. Identify the common health problems of infant and children in different developmental stages and the nursing management of these problems.
A.7. Identify early signs that indicate nutritional deficiency diseases
A.8. Identify the importance of infection control in different pediatric sittings.
ب- المهارات الذهنية:
 
B.1. Outline the nursing interventions required for children in the specific units or situations in the hospital.
B.2. Apply nursing process to manage a high risk newborn
B.3. Design nursing care plans and case studies for different diagnosis of common health problems that affect children from birth to adolescence
B.4. Apply general and specific nursing management according to the child health condition
B.5. Discuss nursing management of children experiencing emergencies or critically ill children

C.1. Develop an individualized nursing care plan for children with various disorders.
C.2. Develop patient/family teaching plans for children with various disorders at different developmental stages.
C.3. Use appropriate safety measures when caring for children of all ages.
C.4. Apply nursing process in management of children in various pediatric settings.
C.5. Appropriately record and report deviation from normal.
C.6. Use appropriate infection control measures at different pediatric settings
